One Hundred Eighty-Second Entry
Last night, Phil died. Free Bird was born.
The holiday lunch yesterday at my grandparents house was delicious and lots of fun. It's always fun when 28 folks squish themselves into a room full of food and booze. There was laughing, talking, pictures and video. It was a great great time.
Well after the lunch, Paula had the idea of everyone going to shoot pool in Visalia. Great idea. It was Me, Fred, Rouja, Paula, Tia Luisa, Hernani, Carina, Marcia and Melissa. It was the most fun I've had in ages. There was beer, lots of beer. We were there for a total of about 4 hours. The last hour and a half was a mix of singing along with the jukebox loudly, pounding beers and shooting (mostly missing) pool. Fun, fun, fun!
Marcia and Melissa were requesting songs like crazy in the jukebox. At one point, a song came on that sounded familiar to Marcia. She goes,
"This is that 'Fly Like An Eagle' song."
"No its not Marcia, drink your beer."
It was some odd song that none of us had ever heard of. We tried to sing along with it, but all we could sing was a line that contained the words, "free bird". I was in the middle of a game with my brother and as I was about to shoot, Marcia shouts out "You can do it Free Bird!" I laughed for 5 minutes. And it stuck. For the rest of the night I was Free Bird. Marcia became Penguin and Melissa became Swan. Rouja tried Anteater, but it didn't stick. Sorry Rouja. Today when my aunt called me to see when we were going over for lunch, she called me Free Bird. It's funny when old people do stuff like that.
After pool, we left and it was really foggy. We went to Grandmas house where we were drunk and stupid. It was fun.
Today was fun also. We got up and went over to grandmas to eat leftovers. While it was being prepared, I went outside and hung out with grandpa and my dad. Apparently, Tia Luisa's dog Velcro was out in the backyard and found a gopher hole. My grandpa isn't one to let gophers run around in his dirt. He proceeded to put a hose into the hole, turn the water on full blast and let it run for half an hour. It never overflowed the hole. After he realized that too much water was going into the hole, he took out the hose and shoved a bunch of gravel in. Hopefully the gopher got away. It's fun to watch my grandpa on a mission.
New Alias tonight. Promises to be good. It's been awhile.
